My mind swirls with no destination--a journey endlessly plummeting towards darkness. If my heart were truly fulfilled my spirit would be bouncing joyously on a gargantuan heavenly mattress as if a child jumping in one of those inflatable castles on her birthday. Emotions rise and the stillness of the air becomes a maddening symphony of thoughts--trumpets blowing out of tune, broken bows on violin strings--I remind myself to breathe now. These rambling events in my head make me miss this moment, places me in torment, and time marches forth into time, unfolding like lapping waves slowly tearing down the glass left on the beach and turning it into sand.

I am alone although I stand amidst a population of a gazillion. I am a square that has a circle of friends. I am in silence muffled by screams. I am sad although I have awakened to the sun of a new day.

I remind myself to breathe now--be thankful for the moon that will bring rise to a new night.
